Attitude Changes Our Outlook of Life
Posted by ru4jc @ Fri 23 Jan, 09, 01:20AM under God's leadership
It's true that many people can go through the exact same situation, but everyone will see or perceive them differently. Reactions or responses are pretty much made up of how we view them - either from a positive angle, or the reverse.

I've heard of great sermons - usually saying that "our attitude determines our altitude in Christ". If this is the case, then we must know that attitude is very important. What we are full of (our heart) is what we will be expressing. If we harbour much anger and bitterness, situations and circumstances that are challenging will often be aggravating the effect or emotion we are filled with. But if we are filled with joy, challenges can be pretty exciting, because we can learn and grow from them. See, the perspective is very different - bringing different responses.

It is not easy to walk with a positive mindset all the way, but it is not impossible. We must not depend on our own strength; we need His strength. We need His supernatural ways to show us the way. Imagine; if we are to live out the age of grace, will we give our other cheek for a slap willingly, or will we retaliate? Most of us will want to challenge back, retaliate, and fight our way to defend our dignity. "Our rights must not be challenged", so we say. How different have we thought of the ways our rights need to be defended from that of the Lord's? Didn't the Lord say that we will more likely submit to the circumstances, but not be overcome by them? In fact, the strength of submission is greater than retaliation.

I love to think of the effects of patience it has on us. James 1:2-3 says "Count it all joy when you fall into various trials, because the testing of your faith produces patience". The Scripture didn't say if you fall, but it states a certainty of the trial and testing. "When you fall into various trials" - it is surely, certainly, you will face them. And it will build your faith, because when faith is tested, it brings maturity.

I'm learning to submit to the challenges I face - die to self, and being alive to God. I am a new creation; so it means that I can see things differently, the way the Lord sees. Of course, we can still be so much of "self", but patience is the key here. Our rights need to be surrendered to God, to shape us and guide us. We will still be subject to the same pressure and stress we have always been facing in the office, in our schools, family and peers; but we don't have to see the same way. Our attitude needs to be that of Christ; different from the world. It is a change that has to happen on the inside.

My hope and prayer is that we will have a more Christ-like attitude towards life. Jesus knew how to be angry at the right things, compassion on the weak and sickly, submissive to authority - so we too need to ask for that. It's not too difficult to ask, because God says that He will give liberally to those who ask. (James 1:5) Let's ask God to teach us how to see things through His eyes.

A life truly lived...
Posted by ru4jc @ Thu 24 Jan, 08, 03:13PM under God's leadership

Today, the cortege leaves for the crematorium to cremate the lovely girl, Rachel, who lived, and died, only at the age of 9+. She truly lived a life of example, young as she was, she kept on in the faith, fighting to the very end. She succumbed to leukemia, that took her on 22nd January 2008.

Her passing left a great mark of inspiration to us. We have been praying for her for a very long time; for a moment we saw she was recovering, and then she fell critically ill, other moments we saw her cheerful and joyful (despite her condition), other times she was quiet, suffering in pain. Yet in all those times, we saw her exhibiting joy beyond her pain, that even through suffering, she had faith to believe that God was going to do something.

A life like hers was truly worth modelling. Though young, she had faith in the One who was greater than the sickness. She didn't give in to fear, she gave birth to faith. She resisted many negative remarks about dying, but pressed on to believe God was more than enough for her every need.

Now even in her passing, she continues to live in our hearts by leaving a legacy of faith. Yes, though we may ask why these should happen, God still is in control. He knows that this will bring Him glory. We may wonder, but truly, God's name is to be praised. He saw fitting to bring her home, and He knows that all things will work together for good because He loves us, and He loves her very much.

Yes, hers is a life truly lived, to the glory of His name!

Living with fear of the unknown...
Posted by ru4jc @ Fri 04 Jan, 08, 06:42PM under God's leadership

Sometimes, it is hard for us to prepare ourselves for the unknown. Some of the things that happen to good people are those things which we fear most, and expect the least. Others seem to prosper when we sometimes think of them dealing with unhealthy business or affairs on the human meddling.

The Lord Jesus taught us not to fear about tomorrow, because tomorrow has it's set of worries. Though we may be hit with some news of the unexpected, it doesn't mean that there is no good end to things. All things work together for good, to them that love God and are called according to His purpose and plan (Romans 8:28). The Lord cares enough for us to know when to allow us to go through trials, because He knows we are ready to face it, according to our maturity.

So, we don't have to live in fear of the unknown. Live for the present, make preparations for tomorrow, but don't live in anticipation of it's regrets and sorrows. After all, the canvas of life is meant for us to journey as and when we are treading the path. The painter cannot hold 2 brushes at a time, he only makes his strokes one at a time. Thus, we are to live, "one moment at a time".

Yes, sometimes bad things do happen to good people. But remember, life lessons are best taught through difficult times, because the journey of a distance always begins with a first step.

God bless!

Work that will be tested...
Posted by ru4jc @ Thu 03 Jan, 08, 07:17AM under God's leadership

I was just reading my Bible yesterday night, on 1 Corinthians 3 when I suddenly came across this passage that hit me like a bolt of lighting. It says that "Now if anyone builds on this foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw, each one’s work will become clear; for the Day will declare it, because it will be revealed by fire; and the fire will test each one’s work, of what sort it is. If anyone’s work which he has built on it endures, he will receive a reward. If anyone’s work is burned, he will suffer loss; but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire." (1 Corinthians 3:12-15)

How much of what we do carries value that will last when tested through fire? You see, Paul made it very clear, that we as believers, our work will be tested. When we are through, when we finish our journey on earth, what will God say of what we have done? I'd be so ashamed if it comes to nothing, where everything is consumed in the fire of God's testing. I have nothing to bring before my King would be embarassing.

So, what will we do? It's important for us to continue pursuing godly virtues and values, and working out our salvation with fear, according to Phillippians 2:12-13. "Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling; for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure." This does not mean that we ought to live in fear, but to continually watch our walk and character so that it will bring praise and glory to Jesus, and to center our faith on the finished work of the Cross, as the fuel for us to do good works.

The question here would be, "Are you doing anything that is of eternal value that will last through the fire?" Of the elements spoken of by Paul (gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw), only the first 3 elements will stand the test. The others will turn to ashes when tested with fire. So, what would it be?

My prayer for us that that we'll know how to gauge what activities or efforts we are doing that will last through fire. How do we know? Simple - Matthew 6 is a good key to help us.

May we continue to persevere to walk in godliness, investing in the eternal, or investing in others. We know this will remain when tested by fire.

Goodbye 2007, Welcome 2008!
Posted by ru4jc @ Tue 01 Jan, 08, 08:18AM under God's leadership

All of us have seen how wonderful (or possibly tragic) the year 2007 has been. It is always that when we begin the new year, our expectations for ourselves are set a bar higher, because we desire and aspire to better ourselves in the coming year; trusting that we won't repeat the mistakes we made in the past year.

While 2008 offers many new opportunities, challenges and events, we must never forget how 2007 has built us to be more mature people, and wiser. It will always be that one of our greatest teachers is "time". Only time can show us that the experiences we have gone through has built us to be more durable, versatile and mature. We cannot be who we are without the past as a foundation in building our character.

Hence, beginning this new year, we must not just thrust forward without reflecting back on how God has been faithful. Attending the watchnight service was excellent, we saw so many people testifying of how good God truly is. Indeed, if it hadn't been for Him, we'd probably be suffering, or even died. But surely because of His mercies we are not consumed, for great is His faithfulness (Lamentations 3:22, 23).

2008 promises even greater challenges, maybe corporately for larger groups, or personally/individually, aspirations and ambitions to reach higher. Maybe we are seeking to reach higher in our spiritual walk, or even in our career line, or a deeper journey into education, etc... they all are good things, good intentions, good goals to reach for, but must be grounded by lots of prayer. Perhaps one of the greatest tool we have available to us is the resource of heaven, the Person of the Holy Spirit. John 15 promises that He will be our "parakletos", our Counsellor and Helper, to lead us and guide us into all truth. We can be sure that He will never leave us nor forsake us, but will teach us and fill us.

Some of us may have entered into 2008 with broken dreams, shattered hopes, fears and disappointments that have broken our spirits or passion for the new year. Some of us are not certain if the new year is gonna be a good year, because of the expectations that we built, into ourselves or others on us. We may not be zealous about the year, maybe thoughts of taking a back seat have set in because of major setbacks we had in the past year. Can I encourage you, not everything that has gone bad will continue to stay bad, or repeat itself. You can change that, you don't have to subject yourself to being a victim of mistakes and misery, you can be a victor, because of Him who lives in you. He promises to be your strength, and His grace is always sufficient.

We are at the threshold of something great God is doing. We cannot be at the wayside, just watching as an audience. We have to jump into the bandwagon and take a leap of faith into what God is doing. This could mean that we may have to throw the reservations aside and let God be God. We need to dare believe, because our God is far greater, and nothing is impossible for Him. If you believe that God is able to do exceedingly, abundantly, far and above beyond all that we can ask or even imagine, according to the power at work within us (Ephesians 3:20), we don't need to be so reserved, because our God can do leaps and bounds beyond our imagination. We can take Him at His word.

God never fails. Though we may go through difficult times this year, though we may face opposition, though we may face some giants, God is still faithful. Yes, reality will have us nailed down at times, maybe we have to look at things differently (not all spiritual things all the time), but remember God is a practical God. We can't over-spiritualize things, we must be naturally relevant with the context of our environment. This means, we cannot be heavenly focused with no earthly good. Ephesians 2:10 tells us that we are His workmanship, created to do good works. Only then, can the people around us know that we are a people of earthly good.

I'm confident that 2008 will be an exciting year. After all, it's new, and God is in it. Since God already lived in 2008, He knows the end from the beginning, let's trust Him with our lives, our everything. He knows best.

I pray that you will come and encounter Him in a very special way this year. May you be filled with God's wonderful presence, and His blessings to follow you, and overtake you this year.

God bless our year 2008!

Bereavement of a Loss
Posted by ru4jc @ Fri 21 Sep, 07, 11:10PM under God's leadership

I remember it was on Saturday morning that I got the news from my CG member, Cindy, that her mum has passed away, after battling a long fight with cancer. It was indeed something that triggered us to know how fragile life is.

You see, no one knows what the next moment holds. Only God in His infinite wisdom, could have deviced such a schedule to our lives, living one thing at a time. That is possibly why Ecclesiastes 3 says that there is a time for everything, for everything under the sun. Seasons come and seasons go, but as we journey through life, we are called to make the best of the moment we have.

During the fateful morning, I know we had to embrace some change. A family in need, is what we all need to spring into action. That's what the cell group is meant for, to support each other in need. We made plans to head down to Kuala Kangsar to visit Cindy and family over the bereavement. Spent sometime there to just accompany Cindy.

We were so encouraged to see Cindy. Though she lost her mum, she was very strong. Perhaps what kept her strong and courageous was the fact that the family had already accepted the notion that death was coming. And so it happened, and everyone was, calm and peaceful. I guess to a certain extent, we hope to see the suffering end and that one would enjoy the eternal abode in heaven.

We spend a couple of hours in KK. Imagine, trying from 11:15am meeting in church, we arrived in KK about 4:30pm. 5 hours? Ya, the delays in getting stuff, lunch break, some stops for petrol. But thank God all of us arrived safely.

Well, all of us were there to just pay our respect to the deceased and be present with the family during their loss. Cindy's sister (Vivien) had requested us to sing 2 songs for the closing before we left, where we sang "My Life is in You, Lord" and "Amazing Grace". Funny thing, we were stuck with "Amazing Grace", most of us just couldn't remember, or maybe just too stunned over some turned of events, that we could not sing the verses/stanzas. But we did have a good time, and encouraging time, to know that Cindy and all her siblings and father are doing very well.

We will always keep you in prayer, and let us know if you need any help from us. Take care.

Happy Marriage, Michelle!
Posted by ru4jc @ Tue 01 May, 07, 02:16PM under God's leadership

It's interesting that these are times where your own friends are getting married. I mean, you know, it's growing up, and then, one by one, you're seeing your friends tying the knot, and vowing lives to live for each other, in holy matrimony. It is truly awesome, that we are turning pages of our lives, to live out new chapters, and every new event unfolds, capturing the wonder of how wonderful our life is in God.

I've had the pleasure of attending a friend's wedding, Michelle. Michelle has been a good friend and sister to me, one that helped me back in my college days. Together with her family, they have welcomed me into Ipoh when I was so homesick (first time staying away from home over an extended period of time). Our days in CF, along with so many other brothers and sisters in Christ, really helped made the fellowship sweet and warm. I tasted how wonderful the unity shared in the Body of Christ, and it will certainly take effort.

It was really nice to see them getting married. Michelle, with her husband-to-be, Chris, were definitely a match made in heaven. (Of course, at this point of time, they are already husband and wife). How wonderful a wedding is, a public confession of 2 individuals, vowing to each other, that they belong to each other, never to part, except through death. Truly, it was wonderful, God gave such a fine weather, the place was beautiful (in a Presbyterian church), and the procession was glorious.

Weddings are also nice places to have reunions. Some friends from CF, whom I've not seen in years, were present, and it was just amazing how all of them seem the same they were before. Well, you can say, all of us probably aged a little, but generally all of us looked the same. Perhaps some put on some weight, and some loss them, but all of us knew each other, all of us had a common point of contact.

Anyway, I was really glad to have the pleasure to be at the wedding, both the morning and the evening (dinner). The events were very nice, and it was nice to sit around with old friends, enjoying the occasion.

Marriage is a new phase of life, where it is to be journeyed with perseverance and joy, along with your life partner. The Bible teaches us that a man shall leave his house (parents) and build his own, along with his wife. They are to build their own family institution, where God is the Center of the home.

I pray so for Chris and Michelle. May the good Lord continue to bless your lives, and your relationship, may you continue to blossom in God's richest blessings, and you begin your new life chapter, called marriage. May you have offsprings that will walk godly in the ways of the Lord, and may your home always be of peace and faith.

God bless you both, Chris and Michelle!

Praising Him for His wonderful love!
Posted by ru4jc @ Sat 11 Nov, 06, 11:24PM under God's leadership

God is a very good God. His grace always accompanies us in our needs. He is always patient, always kind, always forgiving, always giving, always with us, always loving us. There is no end to His kindness.

I haven't updated this blog in a long time, have been working on stuff and also spending time with people, and getting lots of expectations at work. Just growing through the phases of life, one by one.

I thank God for my girlfriend, my strong pillar of support and strength. We've been together for slightly past 2 months now, and our 2 months together has been really sweet. We're learning to grown together, share and discover more about each other. But loving her has truly been a wonderful experience, and it's because of God's wonderful love. I know God brought her into my life to help me learn more about His love, and I ask that He would teach me His ways in loving her.

God has been really good to me by bringing her into my life. And I love her so much. And I pray that the challenges we face later on will strengthen our commitment and love for one another.

Thank You, Jesus, for Your wonderful gift to me, in my girlfriend. I am so grateful that You love me so much, that firstly You saved me, then You brought into my life a partner to love me, an evidence of Your continual love for me. Bless our relationship. I thank You Lord, in Jesus' precious name, Amen!

All things work together for good?
Posted by ru4jc @ Tue 05 Sep, 06, 04:40PM under God's leadership

Many of us go through life living each day, with various experiences. Sometimes, good things happen, and sometimes, bad things. Whatever it is, we know from Scripture that all things work together for good...

Everytime in the present moment, one may question of why things happen when it is of a negative nature. The human capacity of handling things can be quite limited, due to the fact that emotions play such an important role or factor in every decision we make. Yet, we know that the Master's hands are over all these situations.

We see a limited picture, scope of things. We fall short of understanding the end from the beginning because we may only be at the middle of it. We haven't journeyed through to see the end result. But God sees it, He knows what He's doing; He knows why it is necessary sometimes to have to suffer or fall, why it is necessary to go through hurting, why sometimes there are victories but also failures. That's because He knows, it will bring about a beautiful picture God has been painting of your life.

Don't disregard the lesson of hard times. Sometimes we do face really hurting moments, but God is not through with us yet. He wants to teach us to trust Him, because surely He allowed it for a purpose, if unknown to us, He knows. And He purposes it for good.

So, do we believe that all things work together for good? Romans 8:28-29 says, "And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son...". It is for the purpose of making us like His Son, that all things happen to us, with a good picture He presents.

Yes, brothers and sisters, we may hurt now, but we learn as we go by. Later on, we will see that God has been faithful, to help us through, and came through strong on our behalf. Trust and believe that God wants to mold us.

Father, I just want to trust You, knowing that sometimes hurtings and sorrows are just lessons You intend to bring to me, to teach me more about Your grace, and Your developing of my character. Build me, make me, mold me, into the image of Your Son, daily. I thank You, because Your faithfulness never ends. In Jesus' name, Amen!

I can only imagine...
Posted by ru4jc @ Tue 08 Aug, 06, 08:44AM under God's leadership

Aunty Pat's passing brings about many thoughts about heaven. About the place where we will one day call home. That's because we're home-bound.

This song by MercyMe, is a great reflection, about what we can only imagine heaven is like. Aunty Pat certainly knows it's not an imagination, but a reality.

I Can Only Imagine

I can only imagine
What it will be like
When I walk
By your side

I can only imagine
What my eyes will see
When your face
Is before me
I can only imagine

[Chorus:]
Surrounded by Your glory, what will my heart feel
Will I dance for you Jesus or in awe of you be still
Will I stand in your presence or to my knees will I fall
Will I sing hallelujah, will I be able to speak at all
I can only imagine

I can only imagine
When that day comes
And I find myself
Standing in the Son

I can only imagine
When all I will do
Is forever
Forever worship You
I can only imagine

[Chorus]

I can only imagine [x2]

I can only imagine
When all I will do
Is forever, forever worship you

Mourning the loss of a friend...
Posted by ru4jc @ Mon 07 Aug, 06, 06:22PM under God's leadership

Just so many things happening around, sometimes at most unexpected times. Losing a friend, someone you feel you could identify with, and a deep part of a big family, has passed into glory. And parting is such sorrow, but God's hands are not shortened that He cannot save. He promised to make a home for all of us.

In John 14:1-4, Jesus says “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also. And where I go you know, and the way you know.

Aunty Pat Chan has been a remarkable woman, someone I admired for her warm friendship, and the broad smile that just welcomes. You can feel the big heart she possesses, it's like she was a channel of God's amazing love. She was an usher of the church, one who had a big heart.

She was a wonderful encourager. I remembered the very first time I led worship in EPCC, and she came to me and just said the most encouraging words to just boost my morale. Praise came not to make me feel good, but to encourage me to do better. Today when I spoke to Michelle (Aunty Pat's daughter), she was just sharing how many times whenever they spoke on the phone (mum and daughter), the mum would sometimes say that "Roland is becoming better and better in leading worship". It brought tears to my eyes, of how I'm being watched, in a light of constant encouragement.

It makes me miss her a lot more. Not because of the praise I seek, but a great friend who always encourages and motivates people. I will definitely miss her, always remembering her warm smile, where she sits, how she speaks to us. I miss her...

May God be the peace and comfort to Uncle Ron, Michelle and Adrian through this period of grieving and bereavement. Aunty Pat is in heaven now, enjoying Jesus, and His wonderful glory.

Until we meet again, we cry with hope...that we'll see your face again.

Men of Covenant Newsletter??
Posted by ru4jc @ Mon 31 Jul, 06, 06:52PM under God's leadership

I am certainly in awe of what God is doing among the men of EPCC, especially those who went up to Penang Hill for the retreat. Passionate hearts that truly want to see God bless the church, not just the men, but the peoples and the community. They call themselves, the Men of Covenant. Truly, praise God for them.

Last Saturday, 8 men came together to talk about starting a newsletter for the Men of Covenant (in short, will call them MOC). They came about the name, WARRIOR, which truly reflect what the men want to be, God's chosen people who would bear His name, advance His Kingdom, and be the people who would endure hardship like a good soldier of Christ. (2 Timonthy 2:3)

The pilot release would feature the testimonies of the men who went up to Penang Hill, how the Lord has ministered to them individually, and how God has challenged the men to be the people God would want them to be, in person, in character, in action. So many wonderful testimonies have come trickling in, or should I say, pouring in! Wow, I am so amazed that a 2-day retreat has changed the men.

I'm so excited. I truly am keen on seeing the church arise in this time, where the challenge is for us to embrace the greater call of God to be God-pleasers. The newsletter will truly thrust the men to seize the opportunity to share with our brothers and sisters, the great things that the Lord has done for us.

I am so encouraged. I believe that as we begin our walk as MOC, we will truly be a light in our nation, and begin to bring healing and restoration to our families, friends and the community. God has called us to be the salt and light of the world, so let us walk in the light of His love.

Father, the desire to start a newletter in our hearts, we pray O God, that You would be pleased by it. We do not seek this for our glory, but let it be for Your fame and glorious name. We pray O God, that You would teach us what to do, where to start, how to share, what to include. We know not, but we know, only through Your grace we can, because it's not about us, it's all about You. We submit and surrender this to You, in Jesus' most precious and holy name. Amen!

Captain Ball Game...a friendly with Sg Nibong Gospel Hall
Posted by ru4jc @ Mon 31 Jul, 06, 06:43PM under God's leadership
IMG_1312.jpg

Yesterday we had a great game with the Sg Nibong Gospel Hall, on their field, playing Captain Ball. I think it was truly great that we managed to just come together and play together, because it does reflect on our willingness to play out from our usual group.

Some people say Captain Ball is a tough game. I think it really tests our stamina and skill. This basically comprises of skills in handball, some netball, and some high-flying jumping skills, and also defenses like Oliver Kahn or Fabien Barthez skills. But it's really fun, and helps us sweat.

We had a good close to 1 1/2 hours game. Really, strategy was needed to ensure that we pace up to the game, and ensuring that we do the necessary to win. Well, looks like the better team won, that is the Sg Nibong Gospel Hall.

However, I am not ashamed. Losing 8-11 to them didn't mean we were losers. Both teams won. Why? Because I know, we built a relationship with them. True, we may has lost in the game, but we built something far greater than just winning or losing in the game, we built what God wants us to build, a brigde that keeps us close to our brothers and sisters everywhere.

On the other hand, I am keen to see EPCC win. Yes, it's a friendly. But we all aim to be better, right?

Sg Nibong Gospel Hall friends, thanks for the wonderful game. Indeed, you are the better team. But we're not giving up. We'll play again next time, alright? We were very pleased with the whole event, it certainly forged ties between us.

Thanks for the game. We appreciate it.

Why transparency is so important...
Posted by ru4jc @ Wed 26 Jul, 06, 11:22AM under God's leadership

I've learnt over the men's retreat that God wants to teach us to be responsible men. How can we develop the responsibility and 'grow up', to be the men God wants us to be?

You know, it is so hard in our Asian culture to open up and share our deepest thoughts and desires. We feel like we're sometimes opening up a can of worms in our own lives for people to criticize and question. Yet, isn't this what brings us to a level of transparency that will teach us to be responsible for our actions?

Opening up and being transparent is not an easy thing to do, especially when you have much to hide. But in order to find healing, you need to open up and share. Sharing deep from within, and leave nothing hidden. Because as we choose to share and open up, we are exposing some hidden sins, the curses of the enemy over our lives, and just allow the Holy Spirit to break us free from any bondage. God can set us free, when we are open to one another.

James 5:16 says that we are to confess our sins to one another, that we may be healed. For the fervent and effective prayers of the righteous avails much. We must continutally strive to be really transparent, because from there, we experience healing and restoration. Why? Because we know, as we keep ourselves accountable, we will hold each other to the right position for growth, and always remind each other to stay true to God, and to grow deeper and deeper in love with Him.

That's why I'm so blessed. Blessed because I have my brothers to be accountable to. So blessed because God has given me brothers that I can care for.

Transparency leads to growth. The devil won't be pleased with this, I know, all he wants is to break the unity we share. God, hold our unity together, that we may stick together through thick and thin, to honour You.

Thank You Lord, in Jesus' name, Amen!

The Men's Retreat was awesome!

Man, I just had the most explosive weekend up in Penang hill, or some would prefer calling it Bukit Bendera, staying at the Methodist Bangalow. Together with 30+ men, we all came together to fellowship and find our significance in God, and identifying our need for God's forgiveness and starting anew our walk with Christ with renewed passion. We never had such an experience, where we played, shouted with all our hearts, lived out our 'manliness', confessed our sins to one another, learnt the Word of God together. God brought us together to help us see, that transparancy between one another is so important.

You know, I truly believe that none of the men who went up to Penang Hill regretted going for this retreat. I've heard some testimonies of men who were reluctant to go at first, but after the first day, their perception changed! God was truly working a work among us, to restore the men, because the men are the source, they are the beginning of the family unit or institution.

Because of transparency, we were willing to be open to one another. James 5:16 says to "confess your sins to one another, that you may be healed. For the effective prayers of a righteous man avails much." Truly, I felt like the walls we had were broken down, we were transparent with one another. Like the catch phrase, "naked, but not ashamed".

I truly thank God for the experience. It was very inspiring, to hear the challenge for men to live for God, in their maximum capacity. Truly, I believe we can all achieve our maximized manhood if we identify with the areas of our lives that are not pleasing to God, breaks it's hold or power over our lives, and commit to serving Him alone, the true and great God.

To all the men who were up there with me, I am thankful for sharing the season together. We all grew together, gelled together, fellowshiped, and built relationships. The experience is truly amazing. The picture shown is the fellowship we shared. I love this fellowship.

And Pr Sam, we love you. Thanks for being so open to share with us. You are indeed our inspiration. Thanks for your awesome leadership, and transparency. You are a model to model after.

Father, we thank You for the awesome experience we experienced up in Penang Hill. We know You have deposited such grace into the men, and want to build and make the men know that they are the source, and You want them to be discipled to be the very man You would want them to be. We are excited because we know, this is just the beginning to more exciting moments. Because we have tasted of Your goodness, we want to share it with others around us. We love You Lord, and thank You for Your awesome grace that accompanied us. All these, I commit and pray in Jesus' loving name, Amen!

Prayer moves the hand of God
Posted by ru4jc @ Fri 14 Jul, 06, 06:26PM under God's leadership

Over the past weeks, I have heard of so many things happening around, why some good people suffer. I don't mean to question, but really, sometimes you do wonder. I still believe God is sovereign, and I believe full well that He has a good plan for everyone, because Romans 8:28 promises that all things work together for the good of those who love Him, and are called according to His purposes and plans. He has something good to pour over our lives, even when on the outset, they may not be the very best of things.

We have been praying for some people around our circle of friends, one of which unknown to me, but I felt burdened to pay her a visit and pray for her. There are just so many needs going around, that you feel compelled to ask God to come and address all of them at one go.

Prayer moves the hand of God. I firmly believe that as we pray, we move His heart. Matthew 7:7 says that we are to ask to receive, seek to find, and knock so that the doors can be opened to us. We have all the grace from above to pray for those around us, to just ask like little children, for the grace of God. Even miracles can take place, when we believe by faith.

I'm thankful that Yueh Nee and Elrick's mum has been discharged from the hospital after the operation of breast cancer. Though the report is not out yet, I believe that the report of the Lord says that she is whole and healed. No word of the enemy or the doctor can nullify the promise of God.

But I feel overwhelmed for Helen. Here is this sweet girl, lying unconscious in coma at the hospital, because of an allergy caused by the bite of an insect. We have been going to visit her, to pray for her, to declare the promise of God. Though there is very little response from her (she would occasionally open her eyes as though she wanted to respond to her family), we kept on believing. I know someday soon, God will breakthrough.

Prayer will move the hands of God. Lord, we do not pray this as a wish-list, but we so speak this to declare that this is for Your glory, not ours. We pray for her family, that You would come and comfort them, and show them the grace of heaven, to know Lord that You are in control. We surrender this to You, believing in Jesus' name. Amen!

Worship brings change
Posted by ru4jc @ Thu 13 Jul, 06, 09:34AM under God's leadership

Last weekend was awesome. We all had a great time, not just in fellowship, but also in worship and seeking God.

When people come together with the earnest desire to worship Him, and learn His Word together, God delights in it. Why? Because people are standing together in unity, sharing the Word, and purposeful gathering.

One of the greatest things that worship does is, it puts focus on our perspective about the view of the Kingdom. Because when we exalt Jesus on the throne, we diminish with more exaltation of His glory. Laying aside our own pride to worship His majesty, places significance on whom God is, not us.

I'm so blessed to have been part of this awesome group of God-fearing people, who worship God at 5am?? Ya, that's true...

Whatever we do in worship, as we believe God, and we sing of His name, and we exalt His glory and fame, and worship Him for who He is, we will see God move. And when He moves, lives are changed.

Worship brings change. Don't believe it? Well, you better. God is in the business of changing lives, only if we allow Him. And why wouldn't He if we have already invited Him in worship? For where the presence of the Lord is, there is liberty (2 Corinthians 3:17).

I love being in the group of people who love to worship. When His people gather, in His name, things happen.

We all will witness God doing something. Worship invites change, change to become like Him!

Men in Worship??
Posted by ru4jc @ Sat 01 Jul, 06, 02:08PM under God's leadership

I am so blessed to be among men who desires to worship, and worship all night! Passion that burns in the hearts of young men is what God surely is looking for. Because such as this, God delights to see His children adore Him, in worship and in praise, in song.

This is Friday after cell group, the bunch of us, actually wanted to follow the World Cup, waiting for the Italy vs Ukraine match at 3am, I think. Instead of watching, the guys, at Benji's house, just sang songs, without any regard at all for the game.

It was pretty amazing. I was amazed. But I am glad because deep in the hearts of these young men, lies a passion so strong that could inspire a new generation of passionate worshippers.

We'll soon see them in action again. I will be posting with more details...

God bless!

Time?
Posted by ru4jc @ Thu 29 Jun, 06, 05:47PM under God's leadership

Learning to walk everyday humbly and obedient to God's call is sometimes more a routine than a joy. Ever wondered why?

Because the key to living effective vessels of honour is honouring time with God, and making Him the first love of our lives. How are we shutting Him out? You think...

A Song in the night...
Posted by ru4jc @ Wed 21 Jun, 06, 05:24PM under God's leadership
My Song In the Night
(Verse)
This is my song in the night
O Lord, please come and have Your way
Move in me, renew my soul
And I will never be the same
And I will sing, with joy in my heart
(Chorus)
You are good, o Lord, You are good
You are good, o Lord, You are good
Every tear I cry, I know You always listen
Cos' You are good, that's why I sing
You are good, o Lord, You are good
You are good, o Lord, You are good
Every step I take, o Lord You're always near
Cos' You are good, this is my song in the night

God is good, and I for one, cannot deny this fact. The reality of our God's goodness is as evident as the air we breathe, the life we live.

I was bathing yesterday, just right after a short team building effort for the worship team members. As I was bathing, I was just filled with song, in light of what my dear friend Benji had gone through. Somehow, the good Lord just filled my heart with peace, to know that above all, He is in control, and that all I needed was to trust Him, to see that He is always sufficient for every need.

So, being so ever ready, I quickly took my guitar, and wrote the song above. All I wanted to do was to sing a song of praise, a song to thank Him, for His goodness.

My song in the Night means that even in the gloomy time and period of my life, God shows Himself to be my strength and my song. That He not only deserves my praise when times are good, but also when the best is not. Somehow, I need to learn grasp the fact that God is always good, even when we don't understand why sometimes.

I only know how to write simple songs, this is my little way of expressing thanks to the God who is more than enough for all of my needs.

Lord God, You are good, even when I cry, You are always listening, embracing me. Every step I take, it is knowing that You are watching, and leading us beside still waters. Thank You for loving us, even when we have been so unworthy, we are undeserving of Your favour and grace. In Jesus' name, Amen!
